If you go down to the woods today …
Ysgol Penparc Aberteifi
For this project I worked with the Arts Council of Wales as a creative practitioner on this project I worked closely with the Agent Alice Briggs, Learners, Teachers, Staff on Maternity leave and every person I met.
For this project we wanted the children to explore their own Cynefin that of the school, the world around them, their families, the biodiversity, and the things that shape our interrelationships. To explore through Welsh ideas of perthyn and Cymuned.
In and with nature.
As a part of nature.
Through the Welsh language and in the Welsh language culture.
We had several sessions which were co-created the learners out in their ideas and brought what mattered to them. We had so much fun exploring what it meant to learn together and dare to be different.
The learners explored their senses through baking and making dough. We threw seedbombs to regulate our emotions. We ruffled through the hedgerows for bugs. We dug for worms. We spoke to others about their times at school when they went to that school. We explored us. Every day we went outside to play. Everyday we reflected on where we went.
It was such a wonderful journey everyone shared ideas and supported one another through the process. Everyone learning together. Community. Together we shared a moment of creativity and inspiration.
I will genuinely miss my friends at Penparc especially the wonderful Nicola who’s energy, creativity and ideas made this project sparkle.
